Important Battery Safety Tips

Battery safety is a huge deal. Simple steps can make a big difference.

No matter what type of battery you are using, it is best to know proper safety and storage procedures.

Most PDR Hail Technicians have cut the extension cords and are now using wheel chair batteries to power their dent lights and their glue guns. Most commonly used are the Werker 31 Amp Hour batteries which are available at a discount to our members from Batteries Plus. These batteries are sealed so there is no risk of battery acid spilling out if it is accidentally tipped over. We strongly suggest keeping them in a case at all times. Dent tools falling across both terminal posts can short out the battery and ruin it. It can also start a fire very easily.

A bad case in 2013 caused a technician to lose his entire truck and everything in it. This could have been prevented by storing and transporting the batteries in a case.
