Glue tabs have completely changed the way that some panels are repaired. Glue tabs have come a  long way since they were first introduced. There were not many choices out there and the limited sizes and shapes hindered what could actually be repaired with the glue-pulling method. Now there are thousands of different tabs out there. Some are great and other are not, however it is mostly personal preference of the technician using the tabs and finding what works best with their own style. Some prefer a soft pull with lots of feel to finesses the metal back up slowly, while others like to yank the metal back with a rigid tab and then finesse the metal back down with their knock-down. The various methods are not necessarily better than one another as long as the end result is a fantastic repair. Some tabs work better with slide hammers while others are designed to be used with a mini-lifter. Our advice is to try every tab that you can until you find your favorites. Some of our favorites are Atlas Olympian Tabs, Blehm Long Red Tabs, Black Plague Crease Tabs and Keco Ice. Whether you are a veteran dent repair technician or you are just starting out in glue pulling, these would be a great choice to have in your glue pulling kit.

Glue Tabs – Get a grip!Glue Tabs

As we talked about above, glue tabs come in many shapes and sizes, but the also have various treads to hold the glue. From Ultra-dent‘s white tabs that have a completely smooth pulling surface, to the other extreme of Dent Hammer’s aluminum tabs which have holes drilled through them that allow the glue to seep through making it part of the tab. Depending on the depth and shape of the dents being repaired as well as the metal, one may want a solid pull or a very light pull. For example, a dime sized shallow dent will be destroyed if jerked up with a super grip tab and a slide hammer. It would leave a mound that would be difficult to repair. The flip-side is that if you have a baseball sized crater, a dime sized glue tab would not even get the metal moving. Glue Tabs By Dave Streen
